Ban Begins For Certain Lizard Species

(Columbia, SC) -- A new ban is now in effect for those who own a species of large lizard.

Tegu lizards can no longer be brought into South Carolina. Breeding the lizards in the state is also prohibited because they are considered an invasive species.

Those who already own tegu lizards now need to register them with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources by September 25th.
