SC Stops Two Executions Until Firing Squad Procedures Established

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina Supreme Court is stopping the executions of death row inmates Brad Sigmon and Freddie Owens.

The state's high court says firing squad procedures need to be established first so that the electric chair isn't the only option.

This comes after a new state law requires inmates to choose the electric chair or firing squad as their method of execution instead of lethal injection.

Brad Sigmon had been scheduled to be executed on Friday.
