(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina's Department of Employment and Workforce is seeing the lowest first time unemployment claims since the pandemic began.
They received just over 17-hundred initial unemployment claims for the week ending Saturday. This marks the fifth consecutive week with new lows, and the third week the first time claims were under 2000.
South Carolina had the highest total initial claims in April of 2020 when over 87-thousand were received.
