(Newberry County, SC) -- The Newberry County School Board is tabling a decision on a mask mandate for the district.
On Monday night, 47 people spoke out on the issue in an almost three-hour-long meeting.
The board had initially approved a mask mandate on August 23rd but rescinded it since it had not appeared on the meeting's agenda.
The district will now wait for the South Carolina Supreme Court's ruling on a challenge to a proviso in the state budget that bans schools from requiring masks.
