(Charleston, SC) -- A proviso in the South Carolina state budget that stops school districts from putting mask mandates into place is now temporarily blocked.
A federal judge made that ruling Tuesday after the ACLU of South Carolina filed suit. The judge says the proviso that disallows districts from mandating masks discriminates against children with disabilities.
A spokesperson for Governor McMaster says he strongly disagrees with the court's decision, while the South Carolina Department of Education says they are going to provide guidance to schools on the ruling today.
