Governor McMaster Proposes $500M Rural Infrastructure Plan

(Columbia, SC) -- Governor Henry McMaster is rolling out a plan to fix water infrastructure in rural communities.

Governor McMaster announced a proposal for a 500-million-dollar investment that would help modernize rural water systems in the state.

According to reports, officials will receive the funds for the project through the American Rescue Plan.

The South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority says they are grateful for the proposal as they said the funds are needed to meet the current health and safety standards for water set by the states Department of Health and Environmental Control.
