(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina is experiencing an increase in teacher vacancies this year.
Data from the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement is concerning leaders in public education.
The report shows the state had over a thousand vacancies at the start of the school year.
That's a 50-percent increase from last year and the highest number reported in 20-years.
Several districts are offering sign-on bonuses and increasing pay for teachers and bus drivers.
