Gov. McMaster Asking DOD To Reconsider National Guard Vaccine Mandate

(Columbia, SC) - Governor Henry McMaster is asking the Secretary of Defense to reconsider a federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate for National Guard members.

The U.S. Department of Defense ordered Air National Guard members to be vaccinated by December 31st and Army Guardsmen by June of this year. If they do not comply, they are subject to repercussions and consequences.

Governor McMaster says any adverse action taken against a member of the South Carolina National Guard because of their vaccination status, it would solely be due to "misguided and unlawful policies."
