Amendment Adds Fines To Bill Prohibiting Business Vaccine Mandates

(Columbia, SC) - Private businesses could face heavy fines for firing workers for not getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

A bill to prohibit employers from requiring vaccines for employees passed the South Carolina House last year.

Now, an amendment adds a 75-hundred dollar fine per year for four years for those who fire, suspend, or cut the pay of an employee for not getting vaccinated.

The bill is being considered in the Senate and if it passes, the House would be able to make changes before sending it to Governor McMaster to either be signed or vetoed.
