(Columbia, SC) - South Carolina lawmakers are considering some new limitations for a program that has helped bring ten-thousand new affordable housing units to the state.
Under a proposed measure, there would be a new yearly 15-million dollar cap on the tax credits awarded as part of the program.
Some of those credits would be reserved specifically for housing in rural areas.
The Senate is on a deadline to approve the changes to the Senior Affordable Housing Act tax credit program, ending a moratorium set by a state fiscal board earlier this year.
The House of Representatives is also working on its own affordable housing tax credit bill.
