(Columbia, SC)-- The state's largest educator group is speaking out at the State House.
The Palmetto State Teachers Association is calling on lawmakers to pass legislation that would ease teacher shortages.
Specifically, they want legislation that will allow for more planning time for educators, a decrease in standardized testing requirements, and offer bonuses to education majors to get more teachers into the field.
The group says there are over one-thousand vacant teacher positions in the state.
