(Columbia, SC)-- Richard Bernard Moore's execution planned for April 29th is temporarily on hold.
The South Carolina Supreme Court issued a temporary stay on Wednesday after Moore's lawyer filed a legal challenge of the constitutionality of the firing squad or electric chair as execution methods.
The state's highest court says it will release a more detailed order later on.
If the execution had moved forward, it would have been the first to happen by firing squad in the state.
