ACLU And State Reach Agreement Over House Districts

(Columbia, SC) - The ACLU and the state of South Carolina have reached an agreement on House districts.

Maps will be amended in Dillon, Horry, Kershaw, Orangeburg and Richland Counties.

The ACLU was suing the state, alleging the districts intentionally discriminated against Black communities and denied Black voters equal opportunity to elect candidates of their voice.

Though this lawsuit was settled before heading to trial, a separate trial is planned over the U.S. congressional maps.
