(Richland County, SC) --A Richland County Deputy is out of the hospital after being exposed to an unknown substance while on duty Wednesday.
Master Deputy Rebekah Smith was wearing gloves when she patted down a suspicious person who had used fentanyl within the hour.
She fell ill and was given several Narcan doses before being taken to the hospital.
The Richland County Sheriff says Master Deputy Smith is now recovering, and the man she patted down is charged with aggravated breach of peace.
