Constitutionality Of South Carolina's Death Penalty On Trial

Closing arguments are expected today in the trial to determine if South Carolina's death penalty is constitutional.

Attorneys representing three death-row inmates filed suit against the state, arguing the methods of execution are considered cruel and unusual punishment. This comes after South Carolina last year decided death by firing squad or electrocution were the method available to those on death row.

Once the trial ends, the Circuit Court Judge has 30 days to deliver her ruling.
