Bond Revoked For Man Charged In Murdaugh Insurance Fraud Scheme

(Columbia, SC) -- A man accused in an insurance fraud scheme is back in custody after his bond was revoked.

Curtis Eddie Smith is charged in connection to a plot in which he was supposed to shoot Alex Murdaugh so Murdaugh's son could collect a 10-million dollar life insurance policy.

He was issued bond when he told a judge he had no money, but now prosecutors have found he has tens of thousands of dollars from an insurance settlement that Murdaugh represented him in for an alleged fire at his business.

The judge also said Smith violated the terms of his bond by making trips out of the house while on house arrest.
