State Income Tax Withholdings To Be Adjusted In 2023

(Columbia, SC) - Fewer taxes may be withheld from the 2023 paychecks of South Carolina workers.

That's because of an adjustment to state withholding tax tables by the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

This comes after state lawmakers passed the Comprehensive Tax Cut of 2022 in the summer, reducing the top income tax rate from 7-percent to six-point-five-percent.

The adjustments to the tax withholdings start January 1st and only apply to state income taxes.
