(Columbia, SC)- A new total ban on abortion is being considered by South Carolina lawmakers.
The proposed measure bans abortion from conception, with exceptions for the life and health of the mother and fatal fetal anomalies.
The Human Life Protection Act also has an exception for victims of rape and incest, though they would be required to report the assault to police.
The proposal's consideration comes after the South Carolina Supreme Court already struck down the state's Fetal Heartbeat Law, which was a six-week abortion ban.
