Alex Murdaugh Found Guilty Of Murdering Wife And Son

(Walterboro, SC) --Alex Murdaugh is scheduled to be sentenced today.

The once wealthy, high-profile South Carolina lawyer faces 30 years to life in prison without parole after being found guilty of murdering his wife and son.

The jury started deliberations at 3:30 Thursday afternoon. The guilty verdict for the former lawyer was read shortly after 7 p.m.

He was also convicted Thursday of two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The prosecution claimed Murdaugh was about to be exposed for stealing millions from his clients and committed the murders to gain sympathy.

The jury came back from deliberations within hours following weeks of testimony.

Murdaugh admits he lied to police about his whereabouts the night of the murders, stole money from clients, and was a drug addict.

However, he insists he didn't kill his wife and son.
