Impeachment Inquiry Resolution After $3.5 Billion Accounting Error

(Columbia, SC) -Lawmakers are considering beginning an inquiry into if South Carolina Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom should be impeached.

In February, he told the Senate Finance Committee the state's budget was 3.5 billion dollars less than they thought due to an accounting error.

Republican Representative Gil Gatch filed a resolution Thursday to begin the impeachment inquiry.

It will need to be approved by two-thirds of the House before it could move on to the state Senate for consideration.
