Man Accused Of Helping Murdaugh With Suicide-For-Hire Plot Granted Bond

(Columbia, SC) - A man accused of helping Alex Murdaugh with a failed suicide-for-hire plot has been granted bond.

Curtis Eddie Smith was indicted in 2022 for money laundering, forgery, criminal conspiracy, and several drug charges.

His bond was initially set at 250-thousand dollars, but was then revoked over an alleged violation of house arrest and misrepresentation of how much money Smith had.

Smith will again be on house arrest after showing signs of health issues at a bond hearing Monday.
