A revised version of a bill aimed at limiting what teachers can say in classrooms is receiving more bipartisan support.
The South Carolina Senate made changes to the proposed legislation this week, removing an amendment that would have allowed a parent to sue a teacher based on the content they teach. Instead, concerned parents will be able to follow a different complaint process that would be investigated on the local level using guidelines from the state.
The full Senate will now consider the new version of the bill before it can be returned to the House to get approval of the changes.
