(Columbia, SC) -- A bipartisan group of lawmakers is supporting two judicial reform bills.
If passed, the measures would allow the governor to appoint the majority of the ten-person committee that nominates judicial candidates for state legislators to vote on.
Currently, the Speaker of the House, the President of the Senate, and the Senate Judiciary Chair handle those appointments.
The bills have not yet advanced out of committee, and Governor McMaster's office says there is little chance of them passing this session.
