Hearing Today After Convicted Murderer Released Early From Prison Sentence

(Columbia, SC) -- A new hearing is scheduled after a convicted murderer was released early.

Jeroid Price was released in March of 2022 after his sentence was reduced from 35 years to 19 years.

Price was convicted in the 2002 killing of Carli Smalls Junior.

A new court filing claims Fifth Circuit Solicitor Byron Gipson motioned for the early release before the order was signed by a former Richland County Judge.

As the South Carolina Attorney General fights to have Price taken back into custody, a hearing is set for today.
