(Columbia, SC) - South Carolina lawmakers will start a special session next week to discuss abortion restrictions.
Thursday marked the official end of the regular legislative session, but abortion legislation was not passed.
A bill that would ban abortion after six weeks passed in the Senate, but still requires approval from the South Carolina House.
This will be the fourth time in eight months that state legislators have worked on abortion restrictions after a six-week abortion ban that became law in 2021 was blocked by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
