(Columbia, SC) -State lawmakers remain unable to reach a budget deal due to disagreements about how much money some universities should receive.
The current special legislative session was set to end June 1st, but the House and Senate are still in a deadlock over how much funding should go to the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, and MUSC.
If lawmakers are unable to reach an agreement before the end of June, there is a resolution in place that will keep government spending at its current levels.
However, without a budget plan in place, pay increases for state employees, teachers, nurses, and members of law enforcement will be delayed.
