Bond Reform Bill Passed, Sent To Gov. McMaster For Signing

(Columbia, SC) -- A bond reform bill is heading to Governor McMaster's desk to be signed into law.

Lawmakers have been debating House Bill 3532 for months. Now, the House and Senate was able to agree on four changes to the bill in order to pass it.

The measure aims to prevent people charged with violent crimes from getting out on bond and committing another crime before their trial.

The bill gives judges the option to add up to five more years in prison when sentencing repeat offenders for their initial crime.
