(Columbia, SC) - South Carolina residents can save money on back to school supplies this weekend.
Certain items are exempt from the state's six-percent sales tax and local sales taxes starting Friday and lasting through Sunday.
The South Carolina Department of Revenue says over 26-million dollars in tax-exempt purchases were made during the tax-free weekend last year.
This year, tax-exempt items include clothing and shoes, school supplies, electronics, and bed and bath items.
