SC Schools To Be Stocked With Opioid Overdose Reversal Medication

(Columbia, SC) - All South Carolina schools will have an opioid overdose reversal medication on hand this academic year.

Naloxone, also known as Narcan, will be stocked at all schools across the state through a partnership between DHEC and the South Carolina Department of Education.

This comes after House Bill 4122 was passed by lawmakers.

DHEC officials say this could help counteract a recent increase of suspected opioid overdoses at schools.
