(Columbia, SC)-- A special election will be held to fill the seat of late State Senator John Scott.
The seat represents the northern part of Richland County.
It was left vacant when Scott died last week at age 69.
Candidates who want to pursue the seat need to apply between September 1st and 9th before a primary election on October 24th.
A special election will be held January 2nd before the legislative session starts January 9th.
