Idalia Impacts In South Carolina Less Severe Than Expected

(Lexington County, SC)-- Idalia response operations are coming to a close at South Carolina's emergency operations center in Lexington County.

The South Carolina Emergency Management Division says the state was fortunate because the impacts of Idalia were less severe than expected.

For example, officials were expecting up to 200-thousand power outages statewide due to the storm, but the most the state saw was around 40-thousand outages.

Still, President Biden issued an emergency declaration for the Palmetto state on Thursday, allowing FEMA to provide assistance to each of South Carolina's counties if needed.
