(Columbia, SC)-- South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is responding to a motion from Alex Murdaugh's defense team.
Murdaugh's lawyers filed a motion seeking a new trial early this month, alleging there was jury tampering in this spring's double murder trial.
Wilson asked SLED to investigate.
On Friday, Wilson said the motion for a new trial cannot be made while the case is being appealed, and that the SLED investigation found factual disputes with the claims made by Murdaugh's lawyers.
