Gov. McMaster Signs Repeal Of Certificate Of Need Law

(Columbia, SC) - Governor McMaster is touting a new law aimed at making healthcare more accessible for South Carolina residents.

He held a ceremonial signing Tuesday to repeal the Certificate of Need law, which has been on the books in the Palmetto state for decades.

It required anyone who wanted to build a hospital or buy certain medical equipment to get permission from the state first.

The measure signed Tuesday removes most of that process, allowing for more options to be available to those in need of medical care.
