(Columbia, SC)-- A new court ruling will allow Alex Murdaugh to request a new trial.
The South Carolina Court of Appeals will let Murdaugh suspend the appeal of his conviction for his wife and son's 2021 deaths.
With the appeal set aside, Murdaugh's defense team can officially file a motion for a new trial in the case.
The decision comes after Murdaugh's lawyers made allegations of jury tampering.
