McMaster Issues Directive To Change Process For Early Release Of Criminals

(Columbia, SC) - South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is issuing a directive to all state circuit solicitors.

They will now be required to provide at least ten days' notice to the state's attorney general before filing motions to reduce a criminal sentence.

McMaster's directive is an effort to stop a repeat of the early release of convicted murderer Jeroid Price. He was released in March after serving 19 years of his 35 sentence- but police recaptured Price in July.

Governor McMaster says any similar early releases need to be reviewed.
