Senate Subcommittee Working On Judicial Reform

(Columbia, SC)-- A subcommittee in the South Carolina Senate is working on proposed reform for the way judges are chosen in the state.

Currently, South Carolina is one of just two states where judges are elected by lawmakers.

The subcommittee aims to address concerns about this system, as well as the number of candidates who are found qualified for judge roles.

The subcommittee meets again next week, where they are expected to vote on a proposal that will be sent to the full Judiciary Committee for review.
