South Carolina House Passes Bill To Merge Six State Healthcare Agencies

(Columbia, SC) - The South Carolina House is moving forward with a plan to merge six state healthcare agencies into one. 

A bill passed this week would combine the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, Disabilities and Special Needs, Health and Human Services, Mental Health and Aging, and the new Department of Public Health. 

The new agency created by the consolidation would be known as the Executive Office of Health and Policy.The South Carolina Senate has already passed a companion bill.
