State Declines Federal Summer EBT Program

(Columbia, SC)-- A new federal EBT program that aims to help provide children of low-income families while school is not in session is not included in the state budget recently approved by the House.

At least three dozen states have decided to take part in the U.S. Department of Agriculture program.

It would give low-income families 40-dollars per eligible student each month to help buy groceries.

There is still the chance the State Senate can include it in the budget before it heads to the governor.
