(Charleston, SC) -- Disgraced lawyer and convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh has been sentenced to 40 years for federal financial crimes.
This after he pleaded guilty to nearly two dozen charges in September.
A federal judge handed down the sentence in Charleston today and will let Murdaugh serve the time concurrently with his state financial crimes sentence of 27 years.
He was also ordered to pay eight-point-seven-million dollars to the victims of his financial crimes.
Murdaugh is currently serving two life sentences for the murders of his wife and son, but is trying to appeal the conviction.
