Columbia Man Pleads Guilty To Taking COVID Relief Money For Personal Use

(Columbia, SC)-- A Columbia man is pleading guilty to receiving almost 500-thousand dollars of COVID relief money and using it for personal expenses. 

Michael Eugene Bowers reportedly submitted an Economic Injury Disaster Loans application and got over 480-thousand-dollars. 

Officials say he used the money to pay off a BMW and buy a Suzuki motorcycle. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum 250-thousand-dollar fine.
