Senator Tim Scott is defending former President Trump's comments during meetings with Congressional Republicans.
Appearing on ABC's "This Week," the South Carolina Republican wouldn't say whether he supported Trump's idea of eliminating income tax and making up for it with increased tariffs, but said Trump's priority remains helping the working class. Scott said that although he supports free trade, tariffs would be effective at leveling the playing field between the U.S. and China. He accused China of engaging in unfair business practices and "lying, cheating and stealing our intellectual property."
