Tropical Storm Debby Could Make Second U.S. Landfall In South Carolina

(Columbia, SC) - Tropical Storm Debby is now projected to make a second landfall- this time in South Carolina.

Weather officials say the storm moved offshore Tuesday and is expected to stay over the Atlantic during the day today. 

It could strengthen before returning to land between Charleston and Myrtle Beach tonight. 

Debby is expected to bring more rainfall and risk of tornadoes for the South Carolina coastline before moving away from the area Friday.

A curfew remains in place for the City of Charleston due to Tropical Storm Debby. 

Mayor William Cogswell says the curfew enacted Monday night will stay in effect through 7 a.m. today.Then, city leaders will decide whether or not to lift the curfew based on an evaluation of the flooding that occurred.

Over 11 inches of rain has fallen in Charleston since Monday morning after Mayor Cogswell declared a State of Emergency for the city over the weekend.
