(Charleston, SC) -- A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for nearly all of the South Carolina coast.
The National Weather Service says "Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight" is developing off the coast and could bring heavy rain and coastal flooding.
Winds could reach 40-to-50 miles per hour with gusts up to 65. The Midlands and the Upstate can also expect rain - heavy at times - this afternoon and tonight.
If the system develops into a named storm, it will be called Helene.
