(Bishopville, SC)-- Democrat Gerald Malloy is withdrawing his protest of election results for Senate District 29.
A recount was held for the seat because the margin on Election Day between Malloy and Republican J.D. Chaplin was too close for a winner to be called.
Malloy protested the results of the recount over a significant shift in the vote total in Lee County.
A hearing on the protest was set for Tuesday, but Malloy withdrew the protest on Monday.
