School Voucher Bill Being Debated By State Lawmakers

(Columbia, SC) - A school voucher bill is being debated by state lawmakers today.

If passed, it would allow public dollars to fund private school tuition for certain students.

The currently proposed measure would allow families with an income at less than 600-percent of the federal poverty level to participate.

This bill is different from the one partially struck down by the South Carolina Supreme Court last year because it funds school choice with lottery revenues and not the state's general fund.
