State Treasurer Answers Questions On $1.8 Billion Issue

(Columbia, SC) - Lawmakers at the South Carolina State House will soon finalize a report on the 1-point-8-billion dollar surplus that turned out to not exist.

State Treasurer Curtis Loftis answered questions in front of state senators on the matter Thursday.

This comes after an independent report found an accounting error was made nearly a decade ago, but remained on the state's books until 2022.

A Senate Finance subcommittee will review their findings and recommendations after Loftis was questioned- that information will be presented to the entire state Senate in a report.
