(Columbia, SC) -- Representative Robert May has been suspended from the South Carolina House of Representatives after his arrest in a child sexual abuse material case. A federal grand jury indicted May on ten counts of distribution of child pornography. According to court records, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip in April of 2024 from the messaging app Kik. The app flagged several videos containing child sexual abused shared by a user. Investigators traced the IP address to May's home and found at least ten child sexual abuse videos.
