An associate of former lawyer and now convicted killer Alex Murdaugh got sentenced to 8 years in prison on state charges.
Former Palmetto State Bank CEO Russell Laffitte was indicted by a grand jury in 2022 following accusations that Laffitte was involved in a scheme with Murdaugh to defraud Murdaugh's legal clients of their lawsuit settlements. Laffitte has pled guilty to both state and federal charges and has already been sentenced to five-years in prison on the federal charges.
No word yet on when or where Laffitte will serve his prison time.
