South Carolina National Guard Deploying Helicopters, Troops To Afghanistan

The South Carolina National Guard is deploying its equipment and troops to fight the war in Afghanistan.

The South Carolina National Guard is sending more than two-dozen Apache and Chinook helicopters and 60 troops from the Donaldson Center in Greenville to Fort Hood, Texas today for training ahead of planned missions in Afghanistan.

Another 190 soldiers will leave McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Eastover bound to Fort Hood Saturday.

The deployments of the two units were scheduled before President Trump's Monday announcement of a troop surge in the Far East.
