(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina families are closer to getting some tax relief.
The state senate yesterday approved a bill passed by the House that raises the amount of the standard deduction.
The bill is meant to align state tax laws with the new federal tax code that was passed last year.
The House needs to pass the bill that was amended by the Senate, and House Majority Leader Gary Simrill tells the Greenville News that could happen as soon as this week.
